I live for “Mommy and Son” dates. I’ll turn anything into a date with Taelor if I could. There’s nothing more important than making a child feel confident and special at home, that way when they grow up they know what the standard of love is that’s good enough.
Aside from the Bible’s description of love (“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-8), I have discovered also that love is also creative, light, celebrates simple things, enjoys the moment, etc. Love doesn’t revel in material things.
Today, I’d awoken with the intention of taking Taelor swimming if the day permits. There were some things that needed doing in the day, the first being ballet!
After talking about the day ahead, we got changed for ballet and went to class.
Today’s class was quite swift. They’s learning a new dance for another recital coming soon. Taelor is doing so well, and loving each class. Despite my unlikely being in town for his next recital, I’m glad to see him still keeping an interest in it. He really is the most angelic dancer you ever saw. 😀
We headed home after ballet class, got changed to set off to deliver some presents. I figured that if we managed to beat the traffic and get the presents delivered, we’d make it to the pool. For that reason, I packed our swimming things in our sports bag along side the presents that managed to fit.
For some reason, Taelor and I ended up matching so well. I love it when that happens by accident. He’s like a little, lighter, cuter male version of me. ❤
Lucky us, we did manage to catch Sami and Poppy (Tae’s darling cousins). They were working but took some time to swap gifts. It was so adorable the things we got from them.
Soon, Charmie and Kat turned up, so we got to give them their pressies too. It was a really fun time together, even though it was short.
Once we’d finished swapping, Taelor and I headed towards home, stopping first at the new pool a few towns away from ours in Barnstable. It’s called “The Crystal Pool”.
We pulled up and were really impressed by the entry. We could still smell the newness. Fresh paint, dried up cement from the pavings, clean mist of water from the fountain of crystals, and a light trail of chlorine from the pool as we walked through the doors to enter.
Let’s use the word Grand to describe it, shall we?
Highest walls and dome like roof made of glass that parsed the sunlight brilliantly over the pool. It felt like a place for Olympians to practice. Yet, it was right here in our home town, Bay City. And Free!
We looked around and soon got to changing into our swim suits.
Matching again by accident. Perfect!
We got in the pool. Taelor was a little apprehensive but a lot more confident that normal. It didn’t take long till he was having fun. Maybe it was being splashed in the face with water, or me hiding underwater and popping up suddenly to spook him, or underwater tickles. One of those worked, and soon we were playing and splashing in the water.
“Hi Belle and Taelor” rang a voice just beyond our giggles and water splashes. I squinted, secretly wishing I had my glasses on to see who it was since I didn’t quite make our the voice. Then I noticed the blue skin and grinned. “UCCIIIEEE!”, I squealed back and waved in the general direction of the blue.
She joined us and Taelor got a chance to meet her properly. To meet the former Ms Bay City.
Taelor soon got to talking to Uccie. She had told him what she does and at the mention of a Conservatory, Taelor launched into a series of questions directed at Uccie.
Must say, I was amazed at how natural and at ease Uccie was. She’s great … as in…she really is awesome with kids! Didn’t know that about her until now. She’s also really interesting with a very sweet heart. But I already knew that.
Her wifey, Angela, another former Ms Bay City, joined us.
It was perfect and so fun to hang out with them. So much fun that I lost track of the time till I saw Taelor nearly swallow some water taking a big yawn.
I quickly got him out of the water before he drowns himself.
We said goodbye to the cute couple, and headed home after towel drying Taelor’s hair (vigorously) then changing back into our clothes to tackle the chill outside.
The thought of Taelor sleeping with damp hair gave me the chills, so when we got home, I quickly blow dried his hair. He got changed into his PJs and soon as we were done praying, I tucked him into bed.
He was out like a light in no time.
